How I Can Help

Hi - I'm Denise Fuller!  I am passionate about helping my clients throughout the southeast Michigan area achieve their spiritual and personal goals through integration of biblical and psychological principles. The essence of my work is to facilitate growth by helping you identify the core challenges and setbacks in your life, so that you can overcome them.   I specialize in creating personalized plans and providing tools to guide you forward and achieve your desired goals.

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and utilizes a variety of empirically validated therapeutic techniques.  I believe that every person is unique and valuable, and as such, a comprehensive and compassionate treatment should be tailored to meet the unique needs and strengths of each person. I endeavor to create a safe, collaborative atmosphere, where clients feel valued, accepted, and respected. My goal is to empower clients with the tools to be able to evaluate situations, relationships and behaviors in their lives that are causing stress and assist them in learning how to navigate, manage and cope with them.

For any person seeking Christian-centered treatment, I specialize in Christian integration which connects Christian theology and spiritual formation with the interventions used in therapy. When using Christian integration, I seek to offer compassionate and thoughtful spiritual care and guidance to treat client’s presenting problems.

My Story

I am a licensed psychotherapist (TLLP) in the state of Michigan. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Moody Theological Seminary and Graduate school.  I am directly supervised by Dr. Richard Janka, PsyD, LP.

I served as clinic manager at InterSessions Counseling Center in Plymouth, MI and have experience working with children, adolescents, individual adults, and couples.  I have helped clients with a wide range of presenting concerns including self-esteem and self-image, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, eating disorders, relationship issues, and life transition and adjustment issues. I hold Gottman I and II certification for couples counseling.

I currently serve as Executive Director of EDEN (Eating Disorder and Exercise Network), a non-profit coalition of therapists, families, and supporters who come alongside and resource men and women struggling with eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.  I am helping EDEN develop and distribute a proven process for helping clients cope with the myriad of family and psychological issues that surround this illness.

Prior to my graduate studies in counseling, I earned a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan.  I taught courses there in statistical analysis and process control as a teaching assistant.  I worked for over 10 years as an engineer at General Motors and a startup software company, where my human focus was always to help people solve complex problems and navigate change.
